An Appeal for Donation
In Moodahadu Village where Dr. Gabriel Fernandes was born, there are several poor families
who are lacking habitable housing to live in. Recently, Dr. Fernandes decided to give some
financial help to very needy families to help them to build their own houses. There is one
house (shown below) fully completed ready to be occupied which was fully funded by Dr.
Fernandes. However there are two more houses which are under construction and Dr.
Fernandes has given only partial funding but told the families to raise their own remaining
funds to complete the houses. We believe they can’t come up with any funds and each
family therefore is in need of some help to complete the houses. If anyone, with kind heart
wants to help them to complete the houses, can send some small amount to these needy
families. Please try to help them in some little way to complete the houses. Please contact
host Kishoo at his e mail id kishoos@yahoo.com
This is a basic foundation to a new house for a less fortunate family in Moodahadu village
where Dr. Gabriel was born and lived his first 17 years.  This family has/had been surviving
on occasional job at the time of rice plantation, or harvest time, and perhaps washing dishes,
clothes, or cleaning yards for pittance from local brethren, who too are roughing it out. But in
between they have hardly any income.  May be for want of support, enthusiasm, push or pull
they could not complete basic education to help move out of their birth soil.  However, their
income is not even sufficient to find a single concave meal of congee, pickle, or a dried salted
fish.
This is different but similar situation family.  They managed to add walls to their foundation.
Yes, obviously they need a roof before the next monsoon.  I don’t care for the windows
because no one steals in my neighborhood. There has to be something to steal anyway,
folks!  Even a crow does not pick up a two day old chick from a poor family.  If at all a crow
has to eat a day old chick, the crow helps later on by alerting the approach of a snake, cobra
or an eagle by panic alarm crowing. Yes, we depend on each other, now this family seems to
be depending on you. Depending upon your spare-able income, depending upon your
compassion to a fellow human being, can this family depend on you for a fistful of Rupees?
Yes, as mentioned in the introduction, Dr. Gabriel donated some amount to this family too.
Yes, folks, this the just almost completed house which needs a face lift. Another door as this
one roof is shared by two closely knit joint families, but it’s good to have separate doors just to
avoid lung exploding or hoarse throat exercises!  Dr. Gabriel gave over Rs. 70,000.00 so far for
this house.

What Dr. Gabriel gave to all these houses is just a fraction of the total cost.  Apparently, they do
get and did get government help based on their economic circumstances of which I am not at
all familiar with.  Obviously the Government help does not suffice. It’s an incentive to initiate a
foundation. Obviously, it’s obvious that these people need help. But how do you know that
they need help? Hence, Dr. Gabriel is passing out a begging bowl polished out of coconut
shell.  Please place your third non-functioning watch, torn shirt or Saree, a fistful of rice or
horse grain, a coconut dried or impotent, or your disposable change, and if you can, please a
few Rupees too.  Let it not be said, “Lord, I did know when you were homeless or  hungry, Oh,
My God, look at you, I had no idea you have no clothes on!”

Some of you folks have been generous to our last appeal to support “Village to College
Foundation” Here is another opportunity for you to feel good for yourselves!

And thank you.  Thank you, miss for these beautiful photographs. You know who you are!
